A Marian city and pilgrimage site

Located in the heart of the Haut-Quercy region, Rocamadour is a famous place of pilgrimage since the 12th century. Visited since the Middle Ages, the Marian city has welcomed, over the centuries, many “roumieux”, famous and anonymous like Blanche of Castille, Henry II of England and Louis IX of France, Saint Bernard and Saint Dominique who came to venerate the tomb of Saint Amadour and the Black Virgin.

On your way, admire exceptional monuments: the Salmon, Cabilière, hospital and fig tree gates, the monumental staircase, which pilgrims used to climb on their knees, the Saint-Amadour crypt (
classified in the world heritage of the UNESCO
), the Saint-Sauveur basilica, the Saint-Blaise, Sainte-Anne, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Saint-Michel and Notre-Dame chapels.

The caves of Rocamadour

Visit the Cave of Wonders and discover the underground heritage of Rocamadour. A geological and prehistoric cave dating back more than 20,000 years, covered with a multitude of crystalline concretions and decorated with exceptional cave paintings: hands, horses, cattle, deer, felines…

At the foot of the city, the Alzou canyon and the Ouysse valley offer visitors and sportsmen magnificent hiking trails that cannot be ignored.
