A walk among the monkeys
Since our campground in Sarlat, come discover the lovely Rocamadour Monkey Forest, which stretches across 20 hectares of shaded woodland. What makes this place unique is that it’s home to 150 Barbary macaques roaming freely. Now’s the time to enjoy an unforgettable stroll among about a hundred monkeys in complete safety!
A COMMITMENT TO PROTECTING ANIMALS
You can discover monkeys living in optimal conditions in complete freedom. This forest participates in the preservation of endangered species by making the public aware of the threats to these monkeys. You won’t see any cages, as the Magot monkeys roam freely in this vast forest.
Experts at the Rocamadour monkey forest have observed normal animal behavior. This species of monkey has already had contact with humans, notably in Africa. The species is reputed to be calm and non-aggressive. Magot monkeys also come from an environment where the climate is similar to France. So the monkeys are perfectly at home in the local climate!
